(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — SOAPnet releases their third quarter ratings for 2009, and announces that “One Life to Live” garnered its highest audience ever on the cable channel in two key demographics.
“OLTL” earned “double-digit percent gains over year-ago levels,” according to the press release. In addition, the soap received its largest audience ever on SOAPnet in terms of total viewers, with 480,000 people watching the latest Llanview happenings between June 29th and September 27th, up some 39% over one year ago. In terms of Women aged 18-49, “OLTL’s” viewership rose 50%, to reach 186,000 viewers. The numbers also toppled “OLTL’s” daytime counterparts “All My Children” and “General Hospital,” making it the most watched ABC daytime drama on SOAPnet.
“AMC” was the second-highest rated ABC sudser with a total viewership of 477,000 (up 31% over the same time last year), and 184,000 in the Women 18-49 demo (up 57% from last year). Trailing in third place was “GH,” garnered 434,000 total viewers (up only 10% over last year), and 174,000 in Women aged 18-49 (an increase of 57% over their third quarter 2008 numbers).
As for the network as a whole, SOAPnet experienced its seventh straight quarter with increasing viewership, with the third quarter of 2009 marking its most-watched quarter since 2000 launch “in Total Viewers in Prime (381,000) and Total Day (198,000).” It was also the second straight quarter that the network has experienced record-breaking viewership, according to the release.
And in the Women 18-49 category, SOAPnet “grew its Total Day audience for the 5th straight quarter, hitting all-time highs in 3Q09 (79,000).” The quarter also came within one thousand viewers of tying the channel’s most-watched quarter in primetime (behind only the second quarter of 2008), with 142,000 people watching. Furthermore, when compared to the same period last year, SOAPnet’s primetime programming block scored 381,000 in totalviewers (an increase of 21%), and 142,000 in Women 18-49 (an increase of 35%). On the daytime side, the increases were 198,000 in total viewers (22%) and 79,000 in Women 18-49 (30%).
