(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — The Weinstein Company partners with Disney to promote the new musical film “Nine.”

Variety reports that ABC’s parent company recently signed a landmark deal to advertise the new movie, which is based on the 1982 Tony Award-winning musical of the same name, on its family of networks. The deal between the Weinstein Company and Disney/ABC Unlimited (the sales group that handles Disney’s cross-platform media deals) will cover all facets of programming from daytime to primetime to late night to the Internet, and everything in between.

Throughout the month of December, “Nine” references will be written into episodes of the ABC daytime dramas, “All My Children,” “One Life to Live,” and “General Hospital.”

In addition, the November 17th episode of “Dancing with the Stars” will feature a dance number set to the song “Be Italian” from the movie and celebrities and dancers on the show will be dressed in outfits worn in the film. On November 22nd, a two-minute trailer will air simultaneously on Lifetime, ABC Family, SOAPNet, A&E and Bio. Later the same evening, the trailer will run during ABC’s broadcast of the “American Music Awards.” A taped segment from “Nine” will also air during ABC’s late night line-up.

“We thought that the ABC Unlimited Group, with their multi-platform offerings, delivered the best demo that we were trying to find outside just the 30-second TV spot,” Francois Martin, senior vice president of marketing at the Weinstein Co., tells Variety. “Environmentally, it’s a great fit.”

ABC will also launch a microsite on the their webpage (abc.com) to help launch the movie, which will also include a sweepstakes, a copy of the trailer, and a 30-minute “Making of ‘Nine’” special. In addition, affiliates owned by the network will be involved in the promotion, as will the huge supersign in Times Square.

Disney/ABC Unlimited senior VP Dan Longest tells Variety that “Look at the breadth of who we reach. We can reach any demo multiple times through any given day. ABC, Lifetime, ABC Family, ESPN, they all have their own marketing people. To come up with one consistent message that exists across all those platforms is really tough. But we strive when we can to have a common theme.”

This isn’t the first time that Disney and the Weinstein Co. have joined forces. In recent years, the two have teamed up for promotional campaigns for “The Nanny Dairies” and “The Mist,” however neither of which have been of this magnitude. “On a scale, this is much larger,” notes Disney/ABC Unlimited VP Gwen Grech.

The agreement also features Palisades Media, which handles media buying for Weinstein Co.

Directed by Rob Marshall, “Nine” is scheduled for a December 18th release in New York City and Los Angeles, followed by a nation-wide premiere on Christmas Day. The screenplay was written by Michael Tolkin and Anthony Minghella. It is based on Arthur Kopit’s book for the 1982 theater production of the same name, which was taken from an Italian play by Mario Fratti inspired by Federico Fellini’s autobiographical film “8½.” Maury Yeston is the musical director for the film, which stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Judi Dench, Nicole Kidman, Marion Cotillard, Penélope Cruz, Sophia Loren, Kate Hudson and Stacy Ferguson.

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — With Thanksgiving Day just around the corner, ABC Daytime unveils its holiday schedule.

Sandwiched in between the biggest shopping and travel days of the year, Thanksgiving is a time when friends and family gather to count their blessings, enjoy one another’s fellowship, and watch television. However, don’t look for any new episodes of your favorite ABC daytime dramas during the long holiday weekend. As in years past, the network will show appreciation to their daytime fans by airing only 19 new episodes of each of their three soaps during the month of November.

Below are the encore presentations of “All My Children,” “One Life to Live” and “General Hospital” that will air on Thursday, November 26:

• “All My Children” will air an encore presentation of their June 12, 2009 episode. In this episode of “AMC,” Amanda gives birth to baby Trevor in the Barbados with husband Jake by her side; Tad’s suspicions give way to panic when his game dart accidentally hits Liza’s “pregnant” stomach; Kendall is moved by Zach’s vehemence when he refuses to entertain the idea of her pleading guilty to Stuart’s murder in order to get a lighter sentence; Annie tells Emma that they have a guardian angel who is going to help reunite them.

• “One Life to Live” will air an encore presentation of their October 9, 2009 episode. In this episode of “OLTL,” Dorian announces her engagement … to Amelia; Dorian’s news is usurped when Blair comes flying out of a window following a heated confrontation with Tea; Fish is unable to contain Tea; Tea fears Blair’s next move; Blair is poised to reveal something to Todd; Mathew gives Bo and Nora suprising news about his surgery; David supports Dorian’s latest stunt.

• “General Hospital” will air an encore presentation of their upcoming November 20, 2009 episode. At this time, Soap Opera Network is not allowed to reveal the contents of that particular episode. This “GH” episode is the debut episode for movie-star James Franco in the role of Jason Morgan’s stalker, Franco.

“AMC,” “OLTL” and “GH” will not air on Friday, November 27.

While ABC has yet to announce exactly which episodes of “All My Children,” “One Life to Live,” and “General Hospital” will air on Thanksgiving Day (November 26th), it is known that all three will air repeats that afternoon. On Friday, November 27th, the entire ABC Daytime line-up will pre-empted for continuous coverage of college football. New episodes will return on Monday, November 30th.

SON will follow the story and let fans know which recent episodes of “AMC,” “OLTL,” and “GH” will air as encore performances on Thanksgiving Day as soon as the information is released by ABC.
